Flat Glass Cleaning

Cleaning the glass and frame is probably the most important step in window tinting. The method of cleaning is different for each type of window, from the basic aluminum frame with rubber gaskets to the difficult wood frame with old putty.

This section provides the proper cleaning techniques for interior and exterior windows, frames, putty windows, painted wood frames, and finished windows. Mastering these cleaning methods will go a long way in helping you become a better installer.

Clean outside of window. Hold scraper at an angle for efficiency. Scraping off hard-to-see contaminants.
