Prepping The Glass

Inspecting the film

Inspecting the window prior to installation of either Safety or Security film is a very important step that should not be overlooked. During the initial visit to the site, check the glass carefully and make sure there are no seal failures, cracked glass, or abnormally hard gaskets. The reason for this initial glass inspection is to uncover any hidden problems that could lead to additional thermal stress once the film is installed. Undue thermal stress can lead to eventual glass breakage.

After inspecting the glass, clean the glass thoroughly as described in the Flat Glass Installation section of this web site. The windows must be completely clean before installation to avoid any contamination that could potentially ruin the job.
